Shampooing  
Wash your hair often with a mild shampoo and lukewarm water to get rid of grease, sebum, dust, flakes of dead skin and other pollutants.
Keeping a watchful eye on how often you wash your hair and how much shampoo you use per wash may be useful.
Remove tangles from hair before shampooing
Washing oily hair with a shampoo meant for oily hair will help control the sebum production whereas washing dry hair with a mild shampoo will ensure that the hair does not lose any vital nutrients
 
Conditioning With Coconut Hair Oil
Natural conditioners like coconut hair oil can work miraculously.
Coconut hair oil evens the outer protective covering (cuticle) and restores sheen to the hair. It penetrates into the central part of the hair (cortex) and also forms a coat on the cuticle, thereby protecting the hair. A coconut hair oil massage one hour prior to shampooing protects the hair from bad effects of washing and combing which damage hair over time and make it brittle.
For best results massage the scalp gently with coconut hair oil. This is not only relaxing but also improves the blood circulation.
Leave the oil in your hair for at least an hour (ideally, oil the hair over-night). A hot towel steam on the hair post oiling is good for dry hair.
 
Grooming Precautions
Use a comb rather than a brush.
Wash combs & brushes frequently with detergents regularly.
Destroy combs & brushes that have come into contact with lice, ringworm, etc...
Never share combs or brushes.
 
Dietary Habits
•   Avoid diets that are deficient in vitamins & minerals.
•   Take a diet rich in fruits and fresh vegetables.
•   Drink a lot of water.
 
Other Precautions
Wear a hat / scarf at the beach / lawn or when you are out in hot sun to protect your hair. UV rays from the sun cause severe drying of hair and also color fading in case of colored hair
Swimmers must protect hair from chlorine that is present in the swimming pool as it could react in sunlight to cause severe damage
Cover hair in a bathing cap and do not allow them to become wet.
Immediately after swimming, wash hair with normal water to remove the residual effect of chlorine.
Strive for balance in both personal & professional lifestyle. High stress factors cause body to react by fluctuating hormonal levels in turn causing excessive dry / oily hair, resulting in hair loss
